Project Overview
Location: Bugesera District and Gisagara District, Rwanda
Dates: October 2024 – March 2025
Trainer: Emmanuel Manirarora
Number of Families Trained: 350
Previous Circumstances
The communities in Bugesera and Gisagara Districts faced significant challenges with malnutrition and poverty, limiting access to nutritious food and economic opportunities.
Positive Effects
The permagarden training led by Emmanuel Manirarora has transformed lives. Here are some testimonials from participants:
- “Thanks to the training, I realized I was wasting many available resources. Now my family eats fresh vegetables right from our front yard, and we’re saving money.”
- “I didn’t think such a small space could give my family enough vegetables—and even extra to sell for essentials like salt and soap. I’m planning to expand now!”
- “The trainers are amazing. I don’t understand why government agronomists haven’t taught us this. Most of this knowledge is completely new to us.”
