Connecting With Communities A member of our Practitioners Circle, aka “on-the ground team” indigenous to training areas, connects with a community who’d like a training Assessing Needs Practitioner assesses community circumstances to determine whether permagardens are needed and determines the amount of each supply (seeds, manure, etc) needed to train 25 households in that community Funding the Training Elizabeth Bisno sends the necessary funds electronically to Peter Otiende, who distributes funds among Practitioners for trainings Preparing for Training Practitioner buys local supplies and arrives at the community site. Training participants answer survey questions about their current circumstances and challenges Conducting the Training Practitioner conducts training, ensuring 70-90% participants are women, and training HOW TO TRAIN others so that impact can be exponential Immediate Reporting Practitioner sends an immediate report about the community, context, circumstances, how the training went, and surveys, to the permagardens “office team” Follow Up Follow-up: periodic evaluation of results using surveys to assess changes in malnutrition, money saved, etc. Participants answer the same survey questions they answered before the training Impact As the permagardens office team reads immediate reports and follow-up reports, they work with Practitioners to adjust our approach, budget, practices, etc according to what will be most beneficial for the current and future communities we work with
