Emmanuel Manirarora

Based in Rwanda, I’ve been working as a wellness coach for over 11 years and have served as a Permagarden trainer for more than 7 years. With guidance from Nancy Strachan and training from Peter Jensen in 2018, I’ve since taught permagarden techniques to over 1,400 families across 58+ villages in Rwanda.

I champion sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and people. To this end, I cofounded Live Well Rwanda, a wellness company that promotes mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing for individuals and organizations. We firmly believe that healthy people contribute more effectively at home, at work, and within their communities. Live Well Rwanda runs two main programs:

  1. Business Program – Delivering wellness services to individuals, corporations, NGOs, and academic institutions.
  2. Community Outreach Program – Sharing permagardening knowledge and trauma-informed practices with local communities.

I view the Permagarden method as an effective way to meet the needs of Rwanda’s growing population. As Africa’s second most densely populated nation—with around 70% of its workforce in agriculture—this approach can have a meaningful impact.

I also serve as secretary and board member of Kuzamura Ubuzima, an NGO dedicated to combating malnutrition by providing nutritious organic meals in hospitals and raising awareness around nutrition, sustainable farming, and holistic wellness.

Additionally, I cocoordinate the Azahar Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes peacebuilding and crosscultural dialogue in communities affected by genocide, war, and conflict. We accomplish this through practices like yoga, meditation, and the arts.
