Christine Mukehshimana

I am Christine Mukeshimana, a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) professional, a certified physiotherapist, and a project management specialist with a Master’s degree in Project Management. As the Founder and Executive Director of TUJYANEMO HDVC, my work is deeply rooted in empowering children with disabilities and their families, ensuring they have access to healthcare, education, economic opportunities, and sustainable food systems.

In 2018, we introduced permagardening as part of our mission to combat malnutrition and strengthen food security for vulnerable families. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how a simple garden can restore dignity, self-reliance, and hope. Many of the families we support have transformed their lives gaining access to nutritious food, generating income, and building resilience in the face of challenges.

Beyond permagardening, TUJYANEMO HDVC has expanded its impact by establishing cooperatives in Gakenke District and Kabuga, launching vermiculture projects, and developing a rehabilitation center and an inclusive school. As a professional physiotherapist, I have always been passionate about ensuring that children with disabilities receive proper rehabilitation and care, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Being part of The Permagardens Foundation has reinforced my belief in sustainable, community-driven solutions. It’s not just about agriculture it’s about resilience, inclusion, and building a future where every child, regardless of ability or background, can thrive.

Through my expertise in Monitoring & Evaluation, project management, and rehabilitation, I continue to design, implement, and assess impactful programs that transform lives. My journey is one of advocacy, learning, and dedication to ensuring no child is left behind.
